Hi, admin. I wanted your opinion on the dual-seater J-15S.
Is the J-15S a trainer only, or can it function as a strike fighter much like the J-16? Do you know if it has the same kind of avionics and airframe reinforcements seen on J-16?

So far J-15S is being developed as a trainer only since the Chinese carrier-based fighter force is in still in its toddler stage. The avionics and airframe should be more similar to J-15 than to J-16, since the later is a strike fighter designed for the PLAAF.

Any estimate on when the dual-seat might begin service?

Next year maybe. It shouldn't be a challenging aircraft to develop.
