Sorry again me with two questions: First of all I can't help myself, but I still have that strange feeling that the new radome does not follow the external lines of the original one but has indeed a new shape ?? Since however that AESA was not ready in time, the first block of J-10B serials also received a PESA-type developed from the 607 Institute). This however could also be a hint that the J-16 in fact also "only" has a PESA and this could also explain its protracted development, since similar to the J-10B its main avionics is not ready. If that theory will be correct, I don't know, but it will be interesting to see, if the next J-16s will also feature the J-11Ds canted radome ... Just two cents, Deino

If the AESA radars of J-16 and J-11D were developed by two different institutes, then one should not be derived from the other. Also I tend to agree that J-11D's nose has been reshaped more like J-10B's nose, but we still need photos from better angles to confirm that. As for the exact reason why J-16 has been delayed, I really don't know at this point. It could be due to the issues with the radar.

Also I tend to agree that J-11D's nose has been reshaped more like J-10B's nose, but we still need photos from better angles to confirm that. As for the exact reason why J-16 has been delayed, I really don't know at this point. It could be due to the issues with the radar. Thanks ... but I think I'm correct to assume that so far all information which institute developed the radar for what type are pure speculations ?? Anyway ... I played around a bit with that J-11D image ...

(russian prodcued T/R MMIC cost around equivalent $200) aside from fighter AESA radar, Reccon SAR pod already adapting AESA technology. probalby E-8 type aircraft may be on the work.using C-919 passenger aircraft.
