Hey huitong, in the 093 entry you say the 095 "under construction" has a similar design to the LA class SSN -- do you mean the standard, or the improved LA class with retractable hydroplanes and VLS for tomahawk missiles?
If the latter, wouldn't it be easier to just say the design was similar to seawolf or virginia to avoid any ambiguity?

According to a rumor on the internet that the first 095 SSN is under construction at Bohai Shipyard. A photo was posted but quickly removed. Based on the witenss description, it appears similar to the LA class, which could refer to the earlier LA class design, I believe, since China is decades behind the US in terms of nuclear submarine technology, unlike the J-20 stealth fighter case. The model looks real to me, great findings!  The sail appears more like the Sea Wolf class than LA class. However the propeller looks a bit distorted. I have no idea why. Now I think 095 is comparable to LA 688i class. |
