;D Huitong, I was just wondering, when you say that the J-10B might not enter service in large numbers, are you implying that it will be quickly replaced by another variant or aircraft? China has hundreds of J-7s that will retire by 2020, the J-10B wont be replacing them?

I am not sure how many J-7/J-8s will be eventually replaced by J-10Bs. I am hoping that some will be replaced by the 4th/5th generation stealth fighters like J-20.

Hey huitong, did you get the info about J-10B having PESA and J-11B having AESA from these pictures? www.fyjs.cn/bbs/htm_data/27/1202/675141.htmlI have a question -- why is J-11B having AESA "not confirmed" but J-10B having PESA stated as fact? If they're from the same source/place/display shouldn't they have equal legitimacy? Thanks.

The J-10B radar bid had two contenders. 607 Institute presented PESA while 14th Institute presented AESA. It was rumored that 14th Institute won the bid with their AESA design. That picture simply shows the losing PESA design by 607 Institute at some internal exhibition. Similarly, that AESA design shown in the other photo by 607 Institute for J-11B was also on display at the same place. However there has been no confirmation that J-11B has an AESA radar. It is likely that J-11B still features a tranditional PD radar since it entered production a few years earlier than J-10B. It is also possible that J-15 will have an AESA radar, or J-11B will be upgraded later with an AESA radar.
