J-18 rumours !?

With all these latest J-18 aka Su-34-look alike rumours popping up like mushrooms I would like to ask You on Your opinion how reliable are there rumours at all ??

I know that a type in this category might fit nicely into the PLA's requirement for some sort of regional bomber, but IMO there are right now a few too many projects under discussion (H-X = H-20, H-18 = this nice black supersonic design, J-18 or JH-18, JH-XX and JH-7B, J-16 ...) Not that I would complain but IMO it's simply not really realistic...

I could think that several of them - if true - are in fact only concurring concepts or proposals ... but real programs ?

Do we even have confirmation that at least the requirement is real ? ... and what's Your most likely version on this story ?

My personal feeling is that it is a hoax. All related posts on cjdby.net were quickly locked and removed. This means either the project is top-secret and Chinese authority does not want any exposure, or it is a complete hoax, and both could bring trouble to the web site. I tend to believe the later is true, since the two photos we have seen were clearly PSed. As the result I will remove that "J-18" entry from my web site shortly and keep the "H-18" entry for the time being.

That is weird, since there was a rumor that a new type of aircraft recently was tested at SAC.

One of the moderators at CJDBY is hinting that it might be the H-18
